Minor Projects

A collection of different minor projects that I have created, either in my free time or as school assignments

Underwater Drone
Summary

An exploration game where you control an underwater drone, exploring a destroyed underwater facility.

The main thing I wanted to accomplish in this project was to create interesting gameplay mechanics that were centred around the drone itself.

Project details
  • 4 weeks, half-time (4 hours a day)

  • Unreal Engine 5

  • First-person Experience

  • Exploration Game

  • Focus on Technical Design and Gameplay

  • All scripts and AI made by me

  • Assets/Plugins used

    • Blockout Tools Plugin

The Drone

The drone's energy meter slowly depletes. As the energy output increases, the energy bar starts ticking faster

The sliders increase the percentage of energy they use from the energy supply, but this also increases the drone's speed, turn, and lift. The buttons are just a constant supply drain.

Blueprints
The Sonar

The sonar could be used to find enemies and important objects in the world. But in the level showcase, I only have it set up to detect enemies.

To make the enemy dot appear around the same time the ping circle reached the actor's position, I had to send out several sphere traces at intervals that slightly increased the radius every interval.

Blueprints
Combat Encounter
Summary

This level was a school assignment. Our goal was to create a level that could be used for quiet exploration and intense combat scenarios.

I decided to go with a space theme. The player is sent to explore a research station on the moon that mysteriously went silent. Once there, the player has to find a way to turn the station back on. Once it's on, they have to battle the space pirates that enter the station.

Narrative Design Document
Summary

For my degree project during Futuregames, me and 2 of my classmates wanted to make a small prototype where we could each focus on an area we wanted to specialise in.

During the project, I was mentored by Ben Luff, who gave me valuable feedback on my work during the entire process.
