Reflections

The goal was to build an "endless runner," but it had an end. To make it a bit more interesting, we went for the mechanic of being able to spin the level while running. This was a little challenging to level design around, as you had to account for the four "floors" the player could run on.

During the first iteration, I placed too many objects in the way, making the game too difficult. I also did not take into account how fast you were running, so I placed objects a bit too close to each other, and you accidentally jumped into the object in front of it. However, through a lot of playtesting and feedback from other people, I balanced the level better.

Reflections

This was one of the first times I worked on a project that focused on puzzles. I had worked with them before, but never as the main gameplay element. Initially, I made the puzzles too hard, as I thought they were too easy, as I had worked with them so much. Luckily, I got some early feedback, so I was able to rethink my design and not base the challenge on myself.

Reflections

This was the first project we worked on with TGA's custom engine, TGE, which was a learning experience as it was the first time I used an engine other than Unreal or Unity. While we still used Unity as an editor, we had to export our levels as JSONs to play them in the engine. So, it was a new pipeline to get used to, but it did not take long to get used to this new workflow.

Reflections

The level design for this project was enjoyable and challenging, as it was a new experience to work in this camera perspective. The level I designed was the temple level, and the difficult part was designing it so that you still felt that you were inside a temple but could still see as much of the playing area as possible. I think I managed it in the end, but it took much playtesting by me and others until I reached something that worked well.
